Screw piles for a project in Middelfart

Prefabricated concrete screw piles for a project in Middelfart

At the harbour in Middelfart in Denmark, Hercules Fundering installed prefabricated concrete screw piles from Centrum Pæle, in May 2024.

We supplied 43 screw piles for the project. 27 of the piles are our standard screw pile with threads along the entire length, and 16 of the piles are with 5 m bitumen and 3 m threads.

In collaboration with Hercules Foundations, we found the best possible solution that suited the most important parameters in this project.

Camilla Rasmussen, Project Manager at Hercules Fundering, said: ‘With the screw piles, we solved an otherwise challenging foundation task by minimising noise and vibrations while delivering a solution with high performance in terms of time, price and quality. We see potential for this new piling system”.

Restrictions on noise and vibrations

The project is being carried out for Selfinvest, as they wanted to expand their office buildings in Kabelbyen on the waterfront in Middelfart. Their current office facilities are in the beautifully restored building called Turbinehallen – with large glass windows. The new building that Hercules Fundering is doing foundation work for, must be connected to the existing building, so the piles had to be installed 1 metre from the building.

To take into account that Turbinehallen is worthy of preservation and has large glass facades, the screw pile was an optimal solution for the project. The screw pile is a noiseless and largely vibration-free foundation solution.
